Does GBTimelapse remember the camera settings? It will save your camera
settings if you check "Restore camera settings when connecting" under Other
Preferences.
|
Does GBTimelapse capture the still images directly to computer's hard drive or
the cam's memory card? Images can be captured to the hard drive, the
memory card or both.
|
How much "Manual Control" of the camera is through the software? The
amount of manual control depends on the camera model number. Canon's G Series
have full control of speed, aperture, ISO, white balance, flash, exposure
compensation and focus lock; but not manual focus. However, some of the more
compact models do not offer any manual control.
|
Is there a way to have the timelapse software keep the same name the image file for each picture it takes. ?
Yes, if you check the option "Save copy of newest image" in the "Project Settings/History"; it will
save the most recent image with the name "newestpreview.jpg" in the root of the capture folder.
|
Are you limited by the camera intervalometer settings -- 1 minute minimum and 100
frames maximum -- or can you set your own values? The shortest interval
depends on your camera/connection speed (usually about 2 seconds) and the
longest interval is 24 hours.
|
Does the movie preview allow one to toggle through frames or does one need to
generate instant preview after each frame is shot? It's a continuous
live "thumbnail" preview that can be set to loop or can be viewed one frame at
a time with a scroll bar and arrows.
|
How do you power the camera out in the field? One way is to use the Canon
"Charge Adapter/Car Battery Cable" that plugs into the cigarette lighter
(accessory socket) in a car.
|
Does GBTimelapse work with the new camera models? Canon releases a new
SDK (Software Development Kit) twice a year, usually June and December.
GBTimelapse uses the most recent SDK and may or may not work with a newly
released camera model. If you have a new model, why not download the free trial
and see if it works. We will update GBTimelapse as soon as the next version of
the SDK becomes available.

My Canon 350D (or other model) will not connect? 1)You must go into the
camera's menu and change the connection mode from Print to PC. This may be true
of other models too. Also, some PowerShot cameras must have the camera mode
switch on Play rather than on Camera.
2) Are you running Windows XP? Is the camera USB cable connected properly? Is
the camera power on? (Some cameras turn themselves off after a few minutes)
3) Is the battery fully charged?
4) Make sure the Canon EOS Utility is not running. When the camera connects,
Windows raises a dialog asking what to do. You may have set it to allways run
the Canon EOS Utility. This may conflict with GBTimelapse.
|
Why does the camera take so long to connect? The Canon software drivers
perform a test of the cameras memory card when it is first connected. If there
are a large number of images on the card, it can take several minutes.
|
Will GBTimelapse work with my video camera? My Nikon? My Sony? GBTimelapse
is designed to work only with Canon PowerShot and EOS digital still cameras.
|
I bought a used camera. Where can I get the Canon drivers? Go to the

My camera stops while doing a timelapse. What's wrong? Camera errors are

image transfer software. Please check Camera Error Tips
to see how to minimize the problem.

I want to set up this software on a lab computer that isn't connected to the
internet - is this possible?Yes, there is a simple procedure for activating a license on a non-networked computer.
|
After using your software to capture time-lapse photos, what software do you use
to put it together? QuickTime Pro is an inexpensive way to go. Other
options include Adobe Premiere Elements, Adobe Premiere, or Adobe After
Effects.
|
While doing a time-lapse, why does the capture time vary? The actual
capture time will vary because of the way the Windows operating system works.
Windows is not a "real time" OS. The Windows Task Manager allocates time among
all the processes running on the computer according to a priority scheme. There
is no way for a client program like GBTimelapse to force Windows to give it
time. The capture time is shown in red if it is longer than the time
interval you asked for. If you see this happen, you should increase the time
interval.
|
How far can the camera be from the computer? For moderate distances you
may need to buy a self-powered USB extension cable. For longer distances there
are special USB extension devices, do a search on USB Extenders.
|
My 400D XTi Will not connect to GBTimelapse. Make sure the EOS Utility is shut off before running and connecting GBT. You
may have the camera and PC set up to Auto-load the EOS Utility upon connecting
USB cable.
|
When I start GBTimelapse I get an application error and it won't run. The file GBTimelapsePrefs.xml may be corrupted.
Delete it and try again.
|
Why can't I turn off GBDeflicker's histogram overlay? GBDeflicker overlays the
histogram after the free trial time period is over. If this is happening to you, maybe it's time to purchase GBDeflicker!
